Bioalma has over eight years of experience developing information extraction algorithms. In this technology relies the core of two of Bioalma's products: AKS2 and novo|seek.
Data integration
Bioalma integrates different database information to build biomedical dictionaries, over 4M concepts. Our analytical algorithm use these dictionaries to read the new biomedical literature that is published every day, over 2.000 documents per day.
Literature analysis
As the algorithm reads the document it takes into account the context to assign a term in the text to a concept in our dictionaries, for example, if our system finds the word CAT in a document, it analyzes the words and sentence around the term to define the term CAT as an animal or as a gene (synonym of catalase).
Organize information (database)
The information is properly organized in a relational database which is updated daily. Information access
The data extracted with our algorithm is then properly organize and structured to make it accessible to the user either to search for biomedical literature fast and easily with novo|seek or analyze it with powerful tools in AKS2.
